The Lake of Kikkejaure provides " all You can
Eat" when fishing Perch/Bass or Pike. The
Pike caught in the cold Lapland waters is delicious! Skilled fishermen
catch Whitefish / Greyling and Salmon Trout. Using
a net You can get local fish such as Burbot, Selak and Sik.
Deli!
The best
Salmon Trout fishing in Lapland is about 1-2 or h drive away in the
Pitea river. Places like Tjeggelvass, Trollforsen, Bomselkojan
and the creek of Udja are legendary and almost mythical hotspots.
Long walks and lots of mosquitos. Great fishing. I prefer MEPPS Spinners
- The Pro´s use Fly fishing equipment. I recommended equipment

Local Lapland Wine n Dine
Your
neighbour (first house to the right) also runs the foodstore in the
village of Glommer-strask. They have a specialty: Homemade Grilled Lamb
- Really tasteful!
Dried Reindeer-meat. My favorite food on hiking or fishingtrips. Can
be bought in Arvidsjaur.
Palt (Bloodpalt or potatoepalt). Slice thin and fry. Served with butter
and jam. Homemade palt can be bought at Konsum in Alvsbyn. A "Paltzeria"
(!) can be found in the village of Ojebyn outside.Pitea. The also serve
great traditionel local dishes.
If You feel a need for Lapland International Junk Food,
GREAT Hamburgers and Pizza can be found in town nearby :-)
Eco Parks, Hiking & Trails
Dubbla Mountain Eco Park - Protected nature by Lake Kikkejaure.
Stone age carvings along the Abo River. In Swedish:
Dubblabergen Ekopark.
The Nackte Nature Reservoir - Protected nature within 30 min
car-ride and a 45 minutes walk. Bear. A wolf was spotted 1 km from my
house during the summer of 2006. Wolfs, wolverines and lynx are shy
and rarely seen.
Mines
Laver - The Ruins of a Town. This town was build around what was
believed to be a prosperous mine. The town had a church,
school, firestation. Today only the ruins remains. Spooky.
The Silver Road - Nasafjell
Nasafjall's silver mine - Abandoned. Near
the border of Norway on the Silver Road from Skelleftea to the Nasa
Mountains.
For kids: Adventure Bath in Pitea
In
the town of Pitea there is an "adventure bath" - In- and outdoor
swimmingpools. Also nice sandbeaches.
The Great Waterfalls of Storforsen
A great Swedish nature attraction outside
Alvsbyn. Highly recommended.
Music Festival by Pitea

High Class World Music Festival
first week of July every year. Well worth a visit!
Lapland Shopping
Sami Crafts, fishing equipment, souvenirs, postcards / stamps
and international newspapers can be aquired in the town of Arvidsjur
(50 km).
The towns of Pitea and Lulea provides the best of traditional
shopping - Clothing (low-budget or exclusive brands), food, high-tech,
furniture, great dining.
Flee markets - Glommertrask, Vistrask, Abbortrask,
Arvidsjaur, Lulea and Alvbyn

Mushrooms/Berries
Loads and loads to pick in August and early September. Some
are ready earlier during the summer.
Cantharelius (most common in the South of Sweden but some years alson
in Lapland), Birch Bolete, Morel, Carl Johan, Chantarellel, Northern
Milk Cap and many more. Find out which species are edible! Some
are poisoned!
Cloudberries,
Lingonberries and blueberries are common in
Lapland. You´ll also find
Cranberry and Crowberry.
Sami Culture
In the town of Arvidsjaur
You can visit the ancient "LappTown" from the 15th Century.
Actually, there is a whole lot to do in Arvidsjaur.
In the town of Jokkmokk You can visit the Sami Museum Ajtte where Sami
culture is exposed from all aspects. In Arjeplog You`ll find the "Silver
Museum", a fantastic collection of ancient Sami silver goods. If
Youre looking for Saami handcraft I recommend Arvidsjaur, Arjeplog or
Jokkmokk.
Nice
places to visit - Longer sightseeing trips in Lapland
Lofoten, Norway - Beautiful! Take the road Arvidsjaur - Arjeplog - Fauske
- Bodö (approx 400 km) of beautiful road. Check into a hotel and
enjoy the wine n dine of Bodoe during the evening. Catch the early morning
boat to Vaero, the last populated of the Lofoten Islands.
Rovaniemi,
Finland - Great wine n dine, nightlife. Arkticum - a museum on Arctic
Life and people. In Rovaniemi they also have a great modern art museum.
Lapland Nightlife
Na, not recommended - Go to London, Paris, Barcelona, Bangkok,
New Orleans, Lisabon or Moscow. But some local Pubs in Pitea or Lulea
can provide Live Blues and Rockmusic.
Scout for a cheap Lapland home
Houses, cottages and cabins are cheap to buy in Lapland. Scout
around for Your own place.
